We had a bit of a fitful nights sleep after nearly 2 full days of travelling. It was awesome to see Claire, Mustafa and Alican yesterday and of course Gran. Today we have had breakfast, a swim - very Benedorm here - loads of English sunning themselves in bikinis and speedos by the pool drinking beer by 10am! We are about to walk to Claire's - only 5mins walk. Will post photos of our accommodation later. Very nice and the people so kind, helpful and accommodating!
Waiting to board for Istanbul now. Another big haul ahead. Pleased we had time to rest. It been a few extra days arriving and now we are really on our way. Hoping for safe and healthy travels from here. Well today we have started our 5 week journey. It's a strange thing to try and start something over again. We all agreed that we didn't feel the same energy and excitement that we felt last Friday night. Now we have picked up our replacement tickets it's feeling real again. As we keep learning life brings lessons in all forms and today has been one of those for the Miller family. Last night we went to bed with our bags packed for our last night at home. This morning as the clock said 5:15am Connor was saying "Dad I don't feel well" and there is the start of a totally different day to what we had planned. So instead of a train trip into town, an overnight stay in a hotel, a swim in the hotel pool followed by dinner in before our 36hr journey to Turkey began tomorrow morning, we have visited Kenepuru Hospital, come home with a medical certificate for no travel for 3 days and a frozen dinner! And sadly Gran heading off on her own. So life throws curve balls and it helps you grow your resilience and gratitude that you are still able to go..... just a few days later than the best laid plans. Travel arrangements rebooked - head off on Wed now, phone call to Claire and off for an early night - it's been a big day. As well as finishing my work to do list today I'm off to get my holiday haircut so this is the last of this look for a while as I go for the 'no hair dryer, no straighteners, no product' option to make for an easy care holiday look. Watch this space for a view of the new look later today. There is great excitement in our house with just 2 sleeps to go. Our bags are packed, the tickets are stashed, some Turkish Lira tucked in the wallet. Connor has his last day of school tomorrow, Jenny her last day of work and Geoff his last day of chores! It's getting real! |
