Today we've been thinking how lucky we are to be able to combine all the features of a pacific island holiday (think: scorching sun, daily swims and drinks by the pool) with seeing some of the world's most amazing historical sites (think: stuff built BC, castles, mosaics, cobbled streets).
It's hard to believe that a week ago we were wearing merinos as we boarded our flights and as I write this C is playing in the pool with some friends made yesterday while I lie on a sun lounger drying off after a cooling swim.
We had 6hrs out taking a tour around the key Rhodes sites and getting some perspective. Saw the ancient stadium and Apollo Temple and after lunch sitting on some limestone blocks in the shade we checked out the Grand Masters Palace - a huge building with rooms of immense size. The largest building in the old city.
We had hoped to walk the old city wall but it's only open 12-4pm which just seemed too hot to be with no shade and walk the 2km.
So pleased we decided to stay 2 nights/ 3 days as a lovely place and plenty more to do we could easily be here for a week.
Yet another come back to place.
