How exciting to meet Grant Shona and Liam this afternoon in Istanbul.
Connor was very excited to be catching up with his great friend Liam after four weeks.
There is a festival on in Turkey for the next four days - the sacrifice feast (we saw the goat sales on our travels earlier in the week). The more modern /less religious people tend to make donations to charities and give chocolates to visitors - here's hoping we get such treats!!
The Grand Bazaar is closed for the next four days so we went off for a couple of hours checking out the Grand Bazaar - it's one of those places you need to experience - beautiful, busy, noisy, creative, crazy negotiations, repetitive, old, hawkers, beggars, art, junk, evil eyes by the million.....
We found a cafe for dinner and managed to all get a few words in edge ways - so much to share with BFFs about our respective adventures.
Saw the Blue Mosque and Hagi Sophia lit up walking back to our hotel.
Such a culture shock being in this huge vibrant ancient city but in a good way - the senses feel like they are all on full alert.
Off to bed now a long day with a 6am start.
